It's almost time for the next release of Revit and with it comes the usual tasks like reviewing the new features, updating your templates, and upgrading your family library.
Opening each individual RFA and saving in the next release is helpful, but can be a lousy way to spend a day. Luckily, the CADD Toolbox can help.
The Toolbox is a Revit add-in that collects all the great resources from CADD Microsystems and puts them easily at your fingertips. This can be training, blog posts, content, Dynamo scripts, but for this workflow, we are looking specifically at the Toolbox Utilities. Each Utility is a purpose-driven tool that can help speed up workflows and automate some of your Revit mundane tasks.
The Batch Family Upgrade Utility lets you point to a source folder of RFA files, then it will open each one in the current version of Revit and then save those files in a destination folder. You have the option to add a suffix or prefix and overwrite the files if they already exist.
This is a great way to get your library updated with just a couple of clicks.
And the Toolbox has dozens of other Utilities to help you speed up your work. You can check out the whole list here.
